SolidVision Announces Partnership with Solido to Bring the Most Affordable 3D Prototyping to Engineering and 3D Design Markets

New 3D Printer Reduces Time to Market for Engineering and Design Firms

Littleton, MA, July 27th ,2009- SolidVision, a  premier CAD software and service provider, today announced its partnership with Solido to bring Solido's most cost efficient and flexible 3D desktop prototype printer to its broad base of CAD users.

Solido's new 3d printer provides an exciting tool, enabling  engineering and design firms, technical schools, and university engineering programs to be faster, more functional and competitive in the product design and education fields.

The SD300 Pro 3D printer allows users to build in-house designs directly from their CAD data by layering, cutting, and gluing engineered plastic sheets to the required specifications down to the finest detail. "This product makes in-house 3D model building available and affordable to markets where ownership was previously cost prohibitive," says Eldad Sayada, Senior Vice President WW Distribution & Channels of Solido. "We are providing a unique opportunity to the mechanical engineers, in the very early steps of the design that allows designers and engineers to evaluate products and catch design flaws much earlier in the product development process- and well within their budget. The partnership with SolidVision, which has the knowledge and experience to position our products' benefits as part of a total tailored solution, is a major achievement for us, and we look forward to promoting our mutual interests to the market" Sayada concluded.

Suited for all stages of production, the SD300 Pro enables users to produce detailed, functional parts right at their workstations with accuracy to within 0.1 mm. Parts can be drilled, finished and assembled to produce larger models without outsourcing, and with little to no workshop time. It requires minimal training to use, and avoids the hazardous dissolved waste inherent in some high-end 3D prototype printers, which makes it a safer alternative for workers, students, and the environment.

Solido's SD300 Pro 3D printer is available through SoldVision to markets in its service area. "Until now, an affordable 3D printer has not been within reach of some markets we serve," said Mark Sears, President of SolidVision, "It's a reliable, functional, affordable resource that enables mid-range and small design and engineering as well as manufacturing firms to produce prototypes and products faster, cheaper and more easily than ever imagined. I believe that we finally have the opportunity to bring 3D Printing to every engineer's desktop, just as SolidWorks® did for 3D Mechanical CAD." Interested parties can visit SolidVision's website to view the free video, and determine dates for open house and information sessions.

Yitran- Power Utilities, ZIGBEE and HomePlug Join Forces To Create Wired HAN Standard

San Ramon, Calif. - August 25, 2008 (News Release) Today utilities led by American Electric Power, Consumers Energy, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Reliant Energy, Sempra, and Southern California Edison are working with the ZigBee® Alliance and the HomePlug® Powerline Alliance to develop a common application layer integrated solution for advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and home area networks (HAN). Using the robust capabilities of the ZigBee Smart Energy public application profile as a baseline, the three groups will expand the application layer and enable it to run on HomePlug technology, providing utilities with both wireless and wired HAN industry standards to select from when implementing new AMI programs.

Energy management programs that encourage load shifting and energy conservation can allow customers to save money and reduce their environmental impact. Creating a unified solution using the leading open wireless and wired standards will expand the development and certification of devices such as thermostats, pool pumps, water heaters and other high energy use devices ideally suited for connection to a HAN. In May 2008, the ZigBee Alliance certified a number of interoperable ZigBee Smart Energy products from a dozen companies. For a list of ZigBee Smart Energy certified products, visit: http://www.zigbee.org/en/certification/certified_products_zse.asp

“This initiative will provide seamless application integration using ZigBee or HomePlug devices, providing the flexibility utilities need when implementing AMI and smart metering programs,” said Paul De Martini, vice president at Southern California Edison. “Mainstream market adoption of a common technology accelerates our ability to empower our customers to manage their energy usage."”

“The integration of a common application layer across these technologies will allow a common certification process which is critical for plug-and-play interoperability,” said Chris Knudsen, director of PG&E’s technology innovation center. “Without such integration it will not be possible to scale energy efficiency applications and services.”

“ZigBee Smart Energy was developed by utility companies, product manufacturers and technology suppliers so it makes perfect sense to leverage that collaboration,” said Bob Heile, ZigBee Alliance chairman. “Expediting the rollout of energy management and efficiency programs that help everyone better manage their energy use is our common goal and the ZigBee Alliance is proud to play a key role in this process.”

Providing connectivity between utilities and consumers is an ongoing initiative for the HomePlug Alliance. “With more than 20 million HomePlug enabled products in use on six continents, HomePlug technology is the leading global standard for power-line networks,” said Rob Ranck, HomePlug Alliance president. “As utilities and access providers aggressively deploy HomePlug technology in applications around the world for electric grid management, automatic meter reading applications and demand response, BPL and Command and Control applications continue to be a driving force for the Alliance.”

Infra-Com and STMicroelectronics have demonstrated multiple Wireless Digital Audio Reference Designs for High-Quality Home Audio Systems

Netanya, November 3, 2008 - Infra-Com Ltd., a world leader in short range diffused infrared (DIR™) wireless communication ICs and STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM), a world leader in digital audio ICs, have demonstrated complete reference designs intended for consumer electronic products such as home theater systems, surround-sound and gaming speakers, DTV speakers, as well as portable music and aftermarket accessories in a special seminar held during the October Electronics Fair in Hong Kong. The mutual designs combine Infra-Com’s receiver side IrGate™ IC with the all-digital class D power amplifiers and signal processors from ST (STA326, STA333ML and STA335BW), creating a complete high-quality remote audio amplification system.

During the seminar several product/demo systems were on live display while Infra-Com and ST personnel gave detailed marketing, product and technical presentations about the suggested applications, their respective implementation and related technical details for the audio engineering community. Several private meetings were also held during the seminar day with industry leaders in various disciplines like PC/Notebook manufacturers, audio IC manufacturers as well as large volume Chinese audio OEMs.

DIR enables optical communication without the need for line-of-sight between the transmitting and receiving nodes. Unlike a direct infrared signal - which emits light in a narrow beam - a diffused infrared device floods the room with the infrared emissions and utilizes natural reflections from the ceiling, walls, floor and other surfaces to maintain robust high bit rate communications, unaffected by obstructions or by moving people within the enclosure. The link effectively behaves similarly to a radio signal within its operating space, but with no possibility of being affected by, or generating, radio frequency interference (RFI); it is also insensitive to remote control signals, and cannot be ‘overheard’ in an adjacent room. Additionally DIR is a world wide unregulated technology operating at 870nm.

Infra-Com Ltd. focuses on the development and commercialization of innovative, low-cost semiconductor chipsets for indoor, short-range wireless applications.
